The Bear and The Meadowlark (with gold leaf)

This piece feels sacred and playful at the same time. The bear has wisdom in its eyes and the meadowlark its atop the bear’s head has the song in its heart!

The meadowlark is one of my favorite bird’s because it has created the soundtrack for meadows in my life. Whenever I travel through a meadow -whether dry or lush - a meadowlark seems to always be there with its beautiful song.

The bear has always been my spirit animal because of a story my grandpa used to tell me of when he encountered a bear in the wild up close. Then, I moved to Montana from California and so the Cali Poppies also have a special place in my heart because they are the California state flower.

The gold leaf golden moon rises above the mountains amidst a star speckled night sky. Some of the stars and poppies are embellished with gold leaf so you’ll want to hang this in a spot that gets light on it so it comes to life.

Made with gouache, watercolor, ink, and gold leaf on heavy watercolor paper, this piece is ~8.5” wide x 12.5” tall plus ~1” white border. This beautiful piece is ready to frame and hang!
