The Bison's Best Friend (with goldleaf)

This piece was inspired by a mural, which is my favorite mural to date! The mural client is in Bozeman, MT and suggested the general idea of a bison with a bird on its back - I then imagined a bison and bluebird in a dream mountain scape in a meadow flush with wildflowers and lush tall grass.

After I painted the mural, I wanted to see more of it so I created this mini series of the bison + bluebird, wolf + butterflies, fox + robin, and bear + meadowlark. With the smaller pieces, I was excited to add gold leaf to make the piece truly pop and come to life! The smaller watercolor series was a huge challenge for me because I had never combined so many elements into a watercolor piece, but I am really happy with how these came to life and I know you will love them, too!

Made with gouache, watercolor, and ink on heavy watercolor paper, this piece is ~8.5” wide x 12.5” tall plus 1” white border. This absolutely stunning piece is ready to be framed and hung in that oh so special place!
